Thank You for Being Generous
Sometimes it’s hard to know how best to help groups like veterans, firefighters or care providers, but CFC is a great vehicle for that. The fundraising campaign is a convenient resource for guiding our charitable giving to the causes that each of us finds most deserving, whether they hit close to home or across the globe.
I hope you will consider participating in the 2018 CFC campaign, “Show Some Love,” which runs through Jan. 11. You can make a one-time donation, sign up for payroll deduction, or volunteer your time with a charity.
CFC showcases the generosity of federal employees, who donated $89 million last year alone. FAA contributors are among the government’s most generous, having given $2.8 million over the last five years.
CFC has regional campaigns across the country, and this year I’ve been asked to serve as vice chairperson of the National Capital Area campaign. In the Washington area, the FAA has a goal of raising $586,000 of the Department of Transportation’s $1 million target. In the ATO, we’re aiming to raise $327,300, and we’ll keep you posted on our progress.
At headquarters, we’re hosting an FAA spirit event at 2 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Bessie Coleman room on the second floor of Building 10A, and from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria we will have about 15 charities that employees can meet as well as donation learning opportunities to explore.
We also have a number of other activities planned like Jeans and Team Jersey Day on Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – Nov. 27), when we donate to our favorite charity and wear a favorite team jersey to work that day. Check with your local keyworkers for activities in your facility. Thanks to all the keyworkers, and a special thanks to Caroline DiManna and Claudia Bogard for the work they’re doing on the national campaign.
And remember, if you itemize your tax deductions, your charitable contributions are tax deductible.
This is a great time to consider helping those less fortunate as many of us gather with family and friends to give thanks for the blessings in our life. Happy Thanksgiving! And a special thanks to our co-workers who are working over the holidays to ensure passengers make it to their festivities safely and on time.
I appreciate your generosity!
