Introduction: Meagan Garmon

Hello from your new Southern Regional Director,
I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself, as I am excited about being the new Southern Area Regional Director. My name is Meagan Garmon and I am an ATCS at Orlando International Tower-MCO, and have been with the FAA for just over two years. Before the FAA, I was a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. I was based in Boston for six months and at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky for the rest of my short flight attendant career. September 11th forced me out of that job due to the cutbacks, furloughs and other leave programs; however I really enjoyed traveling around the United States. Thanks to the opportunity, I am proud to say I have been to all 50 states! While I optimistically waited to be recalled with Delta, I sold real estate in the Northern Kentucky area. Also, during that time I obtained my instrument rated private pilot license. My husband and I owned a small Cessna 150 and flew it often all over Kentucky. Once I realized the future for my flight attendant career did not look good, I began to look into other aviation career paths. At that time, my husband and I moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee and I attended Middle Tennessee State University. In 2007, I completed the CTI program and graduated with a B.S. in Aviation-Flight Dispatch. I also have my aircraft dispatch license. Hired by the FAA in April of 2008, I was offered Orlando Tower and am very happy to be here.
Most people remember me for the fact that I was born and raised in Skagway, Alaska, a small town of about 800 people. I have an amazing family. My husband is a pilot for Southwest Airlines based in Orlando, having flown for Comair before that. We have two fantastic children, a two and half year old daughter and nine month old son. Between work and being a mom I am very busy, but in my free time I enjoy watching movies, playing sports, running (1/2 marathons and 5k's), sailing, reading, talking, baking and hanging out with family and friends. I am excited about PWC and I have many great socials and membership drives planned. I hope to meet you all real soon!
