Barbecues, Back to School and the “Strength and Esprit de Corps” of Laborers
Monday is the 125th anniversary of Labor Day being celebrated as a national holiday. When it was first proposed, it was envisioned as a street parade to exhibit “the strength and esprit de corps” of laborers to the rest of the public.
I see that strength, tireless dedication and loyalty every day throughout the ATO when I visit our facilities and meet with you, and I’m so grateful to have the workforce that we have built.
I’m proud of the culture we’ve worked to embrace over the last several years by collaborating with our stakeholders, other lines of business inside the FAA and especially our labor partners. Incorporating everyone’s contributions makes our whole operation stronger. We all share common goals as we uphold our mission of providing the safest, most efficient airspace system in the world.
I appreciate your service to the nation, and I’m sending an extra thanks to everyone who is working over the holiday to ensure that travelers arrive safely and on time.
